‘Sultan’s directive to establish Quranic schools in Africa’

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has tasked Al Qasimia University with a significant project to establish Quranic schools across Africa.

The main objectives of these schools will be the memorization and teaching of the Holy Quran, as well as the welfare of students studying and memorizing it. The plan also includes hiring graduates from the university to promote Quranic studies in the respective countries.

This initiative was announced by Sheikh Sultan during a recent speech, which was attended by Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council. The occasion was a ceremony to honor reciters who successfully completed exclusive Quranic recitations recorded and produced by Sharjah Quran Radio.

Nine distinguished reciters from the Islamic world were recognized for their exceptional recitation skills and melodious voices. The event also saw the approval of a proposal to launch a dedicated television channel focused on the Holy Quran. This channel will showcase various Quran-related studies, interpretations, scholars, and reciters, aligning with Sharjah’s commitment to promoting Islamic culture and Quranic teachings.

Sheikh Sultan emphasized the importance of caring for the Quran, not only as a physical entity but also by embodying its teachings and values. He commended the efforts of Quranic institutions in Sharjah, which have contributed to an increase in Quran memorization and understanding.

The honored reciters expressed their gratitude for Sheikh Sultan’s support and encouragement in recording their recitations, a project that spanned several years before its completion and dissemination. The Ruler of Sharjah recognized their dedication by presenting them with certificates and congratulating them on their achievements.

The recorded Quranic recitations are broadcast on Sharjah Quran Radio, showcasing the reciters’ mastery of Tajwid standards. These recitations underwent rigorous verification and evaluation processes, ensuring their adherence to the Hafs’ recitation of Asim.

Overall, Sheikh Sultan’s initiative to establish Quranic schools in Africa and his continuous support for Quranic studies highlight the significance placed on the Holy Quran and its scholars, furthering the mission to preserve and promote the teachings of Islam.
