New IHOP and Applebee’s combo restaurants may be opening in your area

Dine Brands Global, the parent company of IHOP and Applebee’s, is considering the idea of opening combination restaurants in the U.S. This move comes after the company closed numerous Applebee’s locations and opened several new IHOPs.

During a recent earnings call in February, Dine Brands Global mentioned that the revenue potential of joint restaurants could be twice that of a standalone restaurant, while also being more cost-effective to build.

While this may be a new concept for the U.S., Dine Brands Global already operates several IHOP – Applebee’s combination restaurants in Mexico. In addition, a dual-branded location recently opened in the United Arab Emirates and the company has plans to open more in the Middle East in collaboration with franchisees.
