‘Emirates and ITA Airways Agree to Expand Codeshare Partnership’
Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, recently announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Italian flag carrier ITA Airways. This milestone agreement, signed at ITB Berlin 2024, marks the expansion of their existing interline agreement into a full codeshare partnership.
The codeshare partnership will greatly benefit passengers traveling between Dubai, Italy, and onwards. Emirates customers will have seamless access to various domestic cities in Italy from Rome, including popular tourist destinations like Florence, Genoa, and Palermo. Additionally, passengers will also be able to connect to cities across Europe such as Tirana and Sofia.
On the other hand, ITA Airways customers will enjoy enhanced connectivity options to the Emirates route network from Dubai. The partnership will also offer combined ticketing and seamless baggage transfers to further enhance the travel experience.
Furthermore, the MoU aims to introduce reciprocal loyalty benefits on both airlines’ frequent flier programs in the future. Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer for Emirates, expressed the airline’s commitment to strengthening partnerships in key regions like Europe. He highlighted the importance of providing customers with flexibility through complementary networks.
Emirates looks forward to fully activating the partnership with ITA Airways in the coming months to provide unrivaled access to their growing networks. This strategic collaboration will not only enhance travel options but also create a seamless and convenient experience for passengers flying between the two carriers.
