Laurie Farris Appointed as Minister Counselor for Commercial Service at U.S. Embassy

Laurie Farris recently assumed the role of Minister Counselor for Commercial Service at the U.S. Embassy in London in August 2023. Prior to this position, she served as the Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China from August 2021 to May 2023. With a distinguished career spanning twenty-seven years in the U.S. Foreign Service, Farris has held various key roles in different parts of the world.

During her time as the Director of the Office of Digital Initiatives of Global Markets, International Trade Administration from 2016 to 2019, Farris demonstrated her expertise in navigating the complexities of international trade. She also served as the Executive Director for Asia from 2013 to 2016, showcasing her leadership skills in fostering diplomatic and commercial relationships in the region.

Farris’s vast experience includes stints at the U.S. Embassy in Brussels, Belgium, Abu Dhabi, UAE, Amman, Jordan, Toulouse France, and Paris France. Additionally, she has undertaken U.S. assignments in Chicago and Washington DC, further broadening her global perspective and deepening her understanding of economic dynamics.
