Dubai Customs has launched an updated version of the Bachelor’s program in Customs and International Trade with the University of Dubai, aiming to enhance the skills and knowledge of its employees in the customs and logistical fields. This initiative is part of Dubai Customs’ commitment to continuous education and professional development within an accredited academic framework.

The program is designed to strengthen Dubai Customs’ global standing in secure customs and support the security system to ensure societal safety and stability. By facilitating legitimate trade, Dubai Customs plays a vital role in boosting the UAE’s position on the global trade stage.

Aligned with the World Customs Organization (WCO) Picard standards, the Bachelor’s program in Customs and International Trade represents a significant upgrade to the Supply Chain and Customs Bachelor’s program. It is in line with Dubai’s Economic Agenda (D33) and the strategic plan of Dubai Customs to meet the goals set forth in “We the UAE 2031.”

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs, emphasized the importance of empowering customs employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead globally. By focusing on specialized educational materials in areas such as international trade, customs procedures, digital transformation, innovation, and personnel management, Dubai Customs aims to create a workforce that can contribute effectively to community security and economic stability.

Eesa Mohammed Al Al Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, highlighted the program’s role in preparing the next generation of leaders in customs and international trade. The curriculum includes elements of digital transformation, innovation, and change management, setting a new standard in customs and international trade education. This aligns with the vision of “We the UAE 2031” and supports the social, economic, and developmental aspects of the UAE’s growth.

The program integrates practical modules covering international trade agreements, customs procedures, technology in customs operations, port security, and inspection. This comprehensive approach equips employees with a deep understanding of business operations, along with specialized knowledge in customs and international trade.

By providing insights into global business perspectives and emerging technologies in customs and trade, the program aims to develop leaders who can uphold international standards and prepare national talents for leadership roles within Dubai Customs. This initiative emphasizes creativity, innovation, and efficiency in institutional work to create a conducive environment for employees to thrive.
