‘Inaugural Gulf Youth Games set to begin on April 16’

Dubai is gearing up to host the first-ever Gulf Youth Games from April 16 to May 2, with the opening ceremony set to take place at the renowned Dubai Opera. A total of 3,500 male and female competitors will participate in 25 different individual and team sports during the event.

The grand inauguration ceremony on April 16 will see 1,500 attendees witness a 40-minute spectacle that emphasizes themes of youth, togetherness, and sustainability. The ceremony will pay tribute to the history and culture of the Gulf region through a variety of performances, including music, acrobatics, traditional dances, and modern visual displays using cutting-edge technologies.

Sustainability will play a crucial role in the opening ceremony, with the event incorporating eco-friendly elements like LED lighting and recyclable materials to create an environmentally conscious celebration. Additionally, the ceremony will highlight the solidarity of the Gulf region, with all six GCC nations participating to showcase common customs and values.

The event will also shine a spotlight on youth, as young athletes from the Gulf nations come together to demonstrate the importance of sports in promoting physical and mental well-being. Fares Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the Gulf Youth Games, stated that the opening ceremony will be a unique and creative reflection of the rich culture and heritage of the UAE and the Gulf region.

Al Mutawa believes that the event’s focus on unity and youth promise will provide a memorable and impactful experience for all participants and attendees. The theme of the event, “Our Gulf is One… Our Youth is Promising,” underscores the spirit of camaraderie and excellence that will define the upcoming Gulf Youth Games.
