‘Human settlement discovered in Sharjah dating back 125,000 years’

An ancient human settlement dating back 125,000 years has been discovered at a site in Sharjah, according to Eisa Yousif, Director General of the Sharjah Archaeology Authority. The SAA is dedicated to conducting specialized scientific studies on archaeological sites throughout the Emirate of Sharjah, including inventorying and documenting important discoveries and rock inscriptions. This work is carried out by researchers and archaeologists with expertise in excavation, preservation, and documentation.

In addition, the SAA organizes scientific conferences and symposia to protect and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Sharjah and its people. Recently, research discussion sessions were held on February 24 and 25 to further explore the history of the region.

The discovery of this ancient settlement highlights the importance of ongoing archaeological research in Sharjah, shedding light on the region’s history and cultural heritage.
