Fiji Airways joins Oneworld as 15th full member airline

Fiji Airways Achieves Full Membership in Oneworld Alliance

Fiji Airways has reached a significant milestone in the international airline industry by becoming the 15th full member of the prestigious Oneworld Alliance. This achievement follows a successful 2023 for the airline and was announced at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) AGM and World Air Transport Summit in Dubai.

Having been a connect partner of Oneworld for over five years, Fiji Airways has established strong collaborative relationships with all Oneworld member airlines. This partnership laid the groundwork for a seamless integration as a full Oneworld member, a process that will be rolled out over the next 12 months.

Nat Pieper, CEO of Oneworld, expressed a warm welcome to Fiji Airways, highlighting the airline’s growth, award-winning services, and enhanced connections with other alliance members. The move to full membership is expected to strengthen Oneworld’s position as a leading global alliance for international travelers.

Andre Viljoen, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, emphasized the airline’s commitment to providing exceptional service and connectivity as a full member of the Oneworld alliance. This new status will improve the travel experience for Oneworld frequent flyers, offering increased accessibility to Fiji and the South Pacific region while ensuring seamless connections for customers across the alliance network.

The announcement of Fiji Airways’ full membership was made at IATA’s Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit in Dubai, where airline leaders from around the world gathered to discuss industry trends and developments.

With its primary hub at Nadi International Airport, Fiji Airways currently operates flights to 26 destinations across 15 countries and territories globally, including key Oneworld hubs in Sydney, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and Tokyo.

Additionally, Fiji Link, a subsidiary of Fiji Airways, will become an affiliate airline of Oneworld, expanding the alliance’s network by offering domestic flights to various Fijian cities and regional connections to Pacific Island nations such as Tonga, Samoa, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

With a focus on enhancing the travel experience and extending its reach across the Pacific region, Fiji Airways’ full membership in Oneworld represents a significant development for the airline and the alliance as a whole. Travelers can look forward to more seamless connections, enhanced services, and memorable journeys with Fiji Airways as part of the Oneworld network.
