As the year 2024 draws to a close, we, at identity, reflect on a transformative journey through the world of design—a journey made richer by the diverse narratives we have unveiled and the communities we have engaged with. Our gratitude extends to our dedicated readership, esteemed advertisers, and the vibrant community of architects, interior designers, and product designers who together, have propelled our vision of establishing the region as a premier global design destination.

The tenth annual identity Design Awards, held on November 15, stood as a remarkable testament to the exceptional talent thriving within the region. The event celebrated innovation, creativity, and inspiration, showcasing the work of numerous extraordinary designers. Our comprehensive coverage of the evening, featured on page 52, offers a glimpse into the dynamic atmosphere and the celebration of the winners at our exclusive party hosted by Casamia, which echoed our commitment to recognizing and uplifting the design community.

This year’s December issue not only reflects on our achievements but also inaugurates a deeper exploration into the journeys of enduring figures within the industry. Our cover story anchors on the illustrious journey of LW Design Group, a company which has emerged from humble beginnings in a small garage in Jumeirah to establishing itself as a global powerhouse in the design realm. This narrative, enriched by insights from Jesper Godsk, the Founding Partner and CEO of LW Design Group, reveals not just the company’s evolution but also a profound philosophy. Godsk contemplates the concept of legacy and elucidates how a robust design philosophy, rooted in creativity and authenticity, can indeed transcend time and trends.

In this context, it is important to appreciate the significance of storytelling in design—a narrative thread that fosters connections not only among designers but also with the larger community. Through our publication and events, we aim to bridge the gap between creators and consumers, amplifying the voices of those whose innovative ideas propel the industry forward. The design field in the Middle East is characterized by a rich tapestry of cultures, ideas, and influences, and our mission is to highlight this diversity, bringing to the forefront stories that resonate on a global scale.

As we navigate the festive season, we encourage our readers to take moments to pause, reflect, and prepare for the opportunities that 2025 will undoubtedly present. The design industry continues to evolve, and with it, the potential for reinvention and innovation grows ever greater. It is our aspirational goal that, as we move into the new year, we will further enhance our efforts to promote the region’s talents and achievements in design.

Our plans for 2025 are ambitious and rooted in our commitment to fostering a global dialogue about design. We seek to not only continue our tradition of celebrating creativity through prestigious awards but also to expand our engagement with a global audience. We believe that by leveraging partnerships, sharing knowledge, and promoting best practices, we can help to illuminate the unique perspectives and contributions that the Middle Eastern design community brings to the world stage.

In parting, we express our deep appreciation for each of you—our readers, collaborators, and supporters who have made our journey both rewarding and inspiring. We look forward to embarking on another impactful year filled with creativity, passion, and the indefatigable spirit of design innovation.
