Excited for the Future: Dominic Morton Looks Forward to Heading West

Dubai golfer Dominic Morton is eagerly anticipating the next chapter of his golfing journey as he prepares to head west to Odessa University in Texas, US on a golf scholarship.

Originally from England, Morton relocated to Dubai with his family in 2018 and quickly made a name for himself at Trump International Golf Club, Dubai. With a handicap of +2.5, Morton recently completed his IB course at GEMS Wellington School in Dubai.

Having competed in various Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) Order of Merit events in the UAE, Morton reflects on his time in the country with fond memories. He particularly highlights his recent victory in the EGF Order of Merit Men’s Championship at Al Zorah Golf Club and his eighth-place finish in the 2023-24 EGF Men’s Order of Merit.

Looking ahead, Morton is set to travel to the UK in June to participate in regional and national tournaments before embarking on a four-year Business course at Odessa University in August. Balancing academics with athletics, Morton understands the importance of staying focused on both fronts to excel in his golf endeavors.

Excited about the upcoming English and Scottish Boys’ Championships, as well as the English Amateur and Scottish Amateur tournaments, Morton is determined to make the most of his final opportunities in the Boys’ Divisions before transitioning to the next level of competition.

Reflecting on his US adventure, Morton emphasizes the support he receives from friends already studying in the US, which provides a sense of familiarity and comfort as he embarks on this new chapter in his golfing career. Despite facing physical setbacks earlier in the season, Morton is now back to full fitness and ready to showcase his strengths on the course.

With a keen focus on improving his chipping, approach play, and mental game, Morton is eager to make his mark at Odessa University under the guidance of Head Coach Brad Stracke. His ultimate goal is to secure a spot on the University team and continue to pursue excellence in golf.
