Developers Sought for New Renewable Projects

DTE Energy is taking steps to increase its renewable energy capacity by seeking proposals for projects totaling approximately 1,075 megawatts. The utility company aims to advance its decarbonization efforts with the addition of new wind and solar projects that are expected to be operational by March 31, 2027.

Bids for the renewable energy projects are due by May 14, 2024, with contracts expected to be finalized in the fall. DTE Energy specified that the projects must be located in Michigan and interconnected with the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) or distribution-level transmission.

The company has set ambitious goals to add 1,000 megawatts of new wind and solar power each year starting in 2026. Additionally, DTE Energy plans to retire its coal plants within the next decade and invest billion over the next 10 years towards a clean energy transition.
