Emirates to launch new service to Madagascar via Seychelles
Emirates has announced the launch of a new four-weekly service to Madagascar via the Seychelles starting in September. The flights will be operated on a Boeing 777-300ER, connecting Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Ivato International Airport (TNR) in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar.
The flight, EK707, will depart from Dubai to the Seychelles at 8:55am local time, arriving in Mahe in the Seychelles at 1:35pm, and then continuing on to Antananarivo to land at 4:50pm. The return flight, EK708, will depart from Antananarivo at 6:35pm, land in Mahe at 10:20pm, and then fly back to Dubai, arriving at 4:20am the next day.
The flight schedule has been designed to optimize connections to key points in Europe, the Far East, West Asia, the Middle East, and Gulf Cooperation Council countries as part of Emirates’ global network of over 140 destinations. Operating on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, travelers will have the option to combine a stopover in the Seychelles when traveling to or from Madagascar.
Emirates is also in discussions with Air Madagascar to enhance global connectivity. The airline’s deputy president and chief commercial officer, Adnan Kazim, expressed enthusiasm for the new route, highlighting the growing interest in authentic ecotourism experiences in Madagascar.
Madagascar’s minister of transports and meteorology, Manambahoaka Valéry Ramonjavelo, emphasized the significance of the agreement between the UAE and Madagascar, stating that it will boost tourism and trade between the two countries, with Dubai serving as a major international hub for passengers.
In related news, Emirates recently became the first international airline to join aireg, the Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany. The airline signed the pledge at ILA Berlin 2024, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). By joining aireg, Emirates will contribute to increasing the production of SAF in Germany, aligning with its efforts to promote eco-friendly practices in the aviation industry.
