Young Filmmakers Celebrated in Student Film Showcase

The Twenty-Ninth Annual Palm Beaches Student Showcase of Films, with an Artificial Intelligence theme, unfolded at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. Attendees strolled the red carpet with Spot the Robot and enjoyed an AI playlist. Dancers from Digital Vibez, a local youth nonprofit fostering empowerment through dance fitness, technology, and the arts, entertained guests alongside robotic characters.

Emmy-nominated host Frank Licari led the show, joined by celebrity presenters Vanilla Ice, Jevon White, and Matt Lincoln. Kitty Lundan dazzled the audience with a flash mob dance before presenting awards for “High School Feature/Short.”

Over 700 attendees witnessed finalists honored with over ,000 in scholarship money, prizes, and signature trophies. The standout moment was the presentation of the prestigious Burt Reynolds Scholarship to Karla Caviedes of G-Star School of the Arts. Caviedes impressed the committee with her unique storytelling style that integrates her diverse life experiences into her films, earning her the coveted scholarship.
