Year of the Dragon Parade and Festival in New York City’s Chinatown | Streaming Sunday

Happy Lunar New Year from all of us at ABC 7 New York! We are excited to announce that we are once again proud sponsors of the 26th Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade and Festival.

The festivities began on February 10th, marking the official start of the new year. The highlight of the celebration will be the Lunar New Year Parade, which will be live-streamed by ABC 7 New York starting at 1:00 p.m. The parade will kick off along Mott Street and Canal Street, making its way to Chatham Square, then proceeding along East Broadway towards the Manhattan Bridge, before turning onto Forsyth Street and Grand Street.

Additionally, festival booths will be set up along Bayard Street between Mott Street and Mulberry Street. For more information about the event, you can visit Better Chinatown USA’s website.

The Lunar New Year, also known as “Chunjie” or Spring Festival in Chinese, is celebrated by many Asian communities worldwide. It signifies the start of a new calendar cycle, with each year represented by a zodiac sign. In 2023, it was the Year of the Rabbit.

From all of us at ABC 7 New York, we wish everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year a healthy and prosperous 2024. We hope you enjoy the parade and festivities!
