‘Vision EQXX by Mercedes achieves record in Riyadh-Dubai journey’

The Vision EQXX by Mercedes-Benz has achieved a remarkable milestone by completing a third 1,000+ kilometre long-distance journey without needing to recharge, this time braving the harsh environment of the Arabian Desert. This achievement underscores the vehicle’s exceptional energy efficiency, consuming only 7.4 kWh/100km, equivalent to 282 MPGe for gasoline vehicles, even in temperatures reaching up to 34°C.

Embarking from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and concluding at the new Brand Centre in Dubai, UAE, the Vision EQXX covered the 1,010km route in under 15 hours, with 309km of charge still remaining upon arrival, showcasing its long-range capabilities.

During the journey, the vehicle’s advanced thermal management system and solar roof were put to the test, with the solar cells contributing an additional 24km to the total range by harnessing 1.8 kWh of energy. The technology showcased includes a multi-source heat pump, which will be featured in the upcoming Concept CLA Class, and an efficiency assistant that provides real-time guidance to drivers to optimize energy usage.

Mercedes-Benz highlights the critical role of experienced professionals behind the wheel in maximizing energy efficiency through the intelligent systems onboard. The Vision EQXX also serves as an ambassador for electric mobility and luxury, continuing to captivate audiences even after more than two years since its reveal.

With a remarkable 23,340km covered under various demanding conditions, the Vision EQXX’s sleek design with a low drag coefficient of just 0.17 epitomizes the desired blend of luxury and sustainability in electric mobility. Apart from its journeys in Europe, the vehicle has also been showcased in the US and China, offering global audiences a firsthand experience of its luxurious and sustainable electric efficiency.
