‘Upcoming Butterfly Exhibit, ‘Butterflies in Space,’ at Krohn Conservatory’

The annual Butterfly Show at Krohn Conservatory in Cincinnati is back with a new theme, “Butterflies in Space,” inspired by the four Painted Lady Butterflies that flew aboard the space shuttle Atlantis to the International Space Station in 2009.

Visitors to the show can expect to be mesmerized by up to 100 species of butterflies from around the world, including favorites like Blue Morpho, Malachites, White Kites, and Monarchs. The colorful creatures will be flying around a space-themed environment filled with planets, stars, and a star tunnel for guests to walk through.

The Butterfly Show features 1,000 to 2,000 butterflies on any given day, carefully chosen for their variety of colors and popularity with visitors. The exhibition also includes a nursery with hundreds of chrysalises sourced from butterfly farmers worldwide.

To ensure a smooth experience for guests, admission to the Butterfly Show is timed with hourly entry, and tickets can be reserved online or purchased at the door. With limited tickets available per hour, the show aims to prevent overcrowding and provide a more enjoyable experience for visitors.

The show runs from May 11 to August 18 at Krohn Conservatory, open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Mondays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission costs for adults and for children ages 5 to 17, with free entry for children under 5.
