Unlimited Potential in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaima, a city located in the United Arab Emirates, is embarking on a groundbreaking project to build one of the world’s first vertiport networks to support electric air taxi services. This initiative, led by the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) and the Emirate’s Tourism Development Authority (RAKDA) in partnership with Skyports, aims to connect major tourist attractions such as Al Marjan Island, Al Hamra, and Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the UAE.

The goal of this project is to introduce sustainable air transport by 2027, setting the stage for the future of tourism in Ras Al Khaimah. Through a Memorandum of Understanding, RAKTA, RAKTDA, and Skyports will work together to design, develop, and operate the city’s first electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) air taxi ecosystem. Commercial operations are expected to begin by 2027.

By seamlessly integrating Skyports’ vertiport infrastructure with RAKTA’s transport network, this project will offer fast and convenient zero-emission transport to popular destinations in Ras Al Khaimah. For example, a journey from Al Marjan Island to Jebel Jais that currently takes 70 minutes by car will be reduced to less than 20 minutes with the launch of air taxi services.

The vertiport network is not only set to transform transportation in Ras Al Khaimah but also aligns with the Emirate’s goal of attracting 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030. By providing zero-emission transportation options, Ras Al Khaimah is demonstrating its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development. This project will propel the Emirate as a destination of the future, offering tourists and residents a unique and efficient way to explore its iconic sites.
