‘TikTok Officially Designated as Virtual Stage for the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe’

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society has announced that TikTok will be returning as the Official Virtual Stage of the Fringe for the year 2024. Following successful partnerships in 2022 and 2023, TikTok will once again support artists by offering workshops and masterclasses that demonstrate how the social media platform can help raise awareness of their work and increase audience engagement.

TikTok has proven to be a valuable tool in connecting Fringe artists with a large digital audience where creators can start trends, influence culture, and attract new followers who contribute to their success both online and in the real world. Stars from various entertainment sectors such as music, comedy, and performing arts have utilized TikTok to kickstart their careers, leading to sold-out shows and tangible success.

Throughout the summer, TikTok will collaborate closely with the Fringe Society to support emerging talent in the performing arts scene. The platform will offer tailored workshops and masterclasses to assist Fringe performers in leveraging its features to reach new audiences, experiment with new material, and promote their shows effectively.

Audiences are encouraged to follow the official and venue-specific TikTok accounts to stay updated on news and behind-the-scenes content leading up to the festival. During the Fringe, users can explore #EdFringe content on the app and share their own videos documenting their festival experience.

To join in on the excitement of the Fringe from home this August, users can search for #EdFringe on TikTok to discover highlights from venues, performances, and show recommendations. By following @EdFringe and other venue accounts, users can engage with real-time updates, share reviews, and participate in conversations using the hashtags #EdFringe.

Shona McCarthy, Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, expressed enthusiasm about TikTok’s return, emphasizing the platform’s role in helping artists promote their work to new audiences and eventually showcase their talent live at the festival.

Melissa McFarlane, Head of Operations at TikTok UK, IE & Nordics, echoed this excitement, noting the platform’s commitment to connecting global audiences with emerging creative talent at the Fringe. TikTok will not only support performers but also venues and host special events, solidifying its partnership with the Fringe community both on TikTok and beyond.
