Three new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners welcomed by Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways has recently expanded its fleet with the addition of three new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, bringing the total number of aircraft in its fleet to 88. The national airline of the UAE made the announcement on February 23, 2024, as the new planes touched down at Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport (AUH).

These new Dreamliners are equipped with Etihad’s latest cabin interior, featuring a two-class configuration of 32 business suites and 271 economy seats. Set to commence service later this month, the arrival of these aircraft aligns with the airline’s network expansion strategy and plans to introduce new destinations and increase frequencies in key markets.

Antonoaldo Neves, the Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, expressed excitement about the arrival of the new Dreamliners, emphasizing their significance in expanding the airline’s presence in Abu Dhabi. He highlighted the role of these aircraft in bringing more passengers to experience the UAE’s capital either as a final destination or during a stopover while connecting to Etihad’s growing network.

In addition to the three new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, Etihad is preparing to launch flights to Boston, its fourth U.S. gateway, as well as introduce service to Nairobi and Bali. The airline will also operate seasonal routes to destinations such as Nice, Malaga, Mykonos, and Santorini.

The arrival of these new Dreamliners follows the delivery of a Boeing 787-10 in October 2023. With a fleet that includes 43 Dreamliners, as well as Airbus A380, A350, A320 family, and Boeing 777 aircraft, Etihad is working towards its goal of reaching 125 destinations with a fleet of over 160 aircraft by 2030.
