‘Texas Hold’em Themed Hotwater Cornbread Festival Brings back Southern Food and Music’

The highly anticipated Hotwater Cornbread Southern Food and Music Festival, known as HWCB, is back and better than ever this year. Scheduled for May 5th, 2024, at The Beehive in South Los Angeles, the festival will feature a thrilling Texas Hold’em theme that promises a day packed with excitement from 12 PM to 7 PM.

Founded by Justin Cox and described as a “family reunion you don’t have to age out of,” HWCB has quickly become a staple event in the community calendar since its inception in June 2023. Now in its sixth year, the festival continues to grow, attracting larger crowds each year.

This year, attendees of all ages are invited to immerse themselves in the vibrant tapestry of Southern culture at HWCB. With a focus on traditional card games, horses, bull riding, music, and the strategic fun of Texas Hold’em, the festival promises a unique and engaging experience for all guests.

Featuring over 100 Black vendors, HWCB highlights a diverse range of foods and musical talents, drawing thousands of guests and creating a lively atmosphere reminiscent of spirited Southern gatherings. Last year’s event saw the participation of numerous actors and influencers, further cementing the festival’s position as a celebration of community and culture.

Justin Cox explains that the goal of Hotwater Cornbread is to celebrate the rich and diverse Southern food and music culture, while providing a platform for Black businesses to thrive. Guests can expect a day filled with delicious Southern cuisine, captivating music, and the communal joy that only HWCB can offer.

Whether you’re a returning attendee or a first-time guest, the festival promises an unforgettable experience that captures the essence of Southern charm and community spirit.
