“Ten Female-Led Startups Chosen for ‘Women in Technology 5’ Program”

Standard Chartered Bahrain, in collaboration with Bahrain FinTech Bay, has unveiled the top 10 female-led startups for the 5th cohort of the Standard Chartered Women in Tech Bahrain Program. The initiative, which boasts strategic partners like the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), The Labour Fund (Tamkeen), Supreme Council for Women (SCW), and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Bahrain (UNIDO ITPO Bahrain), aims to empower female entrepreneurs in Bahrain to create innovative solutions for the Kingdom.

The Women in Tech Bahrain Incubation Program has already assisted over 40 local startups by providing mentorship and awarding prize money exceeding USD 230,000 to 16 startups. Now, ten Bahraini startups led by women have been selected to advance to an 8-week incubation period. During this phase, the startups will undergo training and mentorship to enhance their business solutions.

The selection event took place at Bahrain FinTech Bay and was attended by key figures such as Noora Al-Nusuf from Standard Chartered Bank, Bader Sater from Bahrain FinTech Bay, Eng. Mariam Jumaan from the Supreme Council for Women, and other industry experts. The chosen startups span various sectors including E-Sports, B2B Marketplace, Food Technology (FoodTech), Education Technology (Ed-Tech), HR & Employee Wellness, Event Management Platform, Restaurant Management Software, Health Technology (Health-Tech), and Loyalty and Rewards.

Throughout the intensive 8-week incubation phase, the female founders will receive mentorship from Bahrain FinTech Bay and other experts in the Kingdom. They will participate in workshops covering crucial aspects of building a tech startup, engage in pitch practice sessions, and become part of the Women in Tech alumni community. This process will enable them to refine their business strategies and take advantage of current business opportunities, culminating in a demo day finale by the end of the summer.
