‘Sustainability Measures Announced for Primavera Sound 2024’

Primavera Sound Barcelona is taking significant steps toward creating a more environmentally conscious music festival experience. With a focus on sustainability and responsible production, the festival has implemented various measures to reduce its environmental impact.

One key initiative involves up to four stages at the festival running on clean energy, either connected to the grid or utilizing a combination of grid power and batteries to minimize emissions. In addition, the festival is promoting sustainable transportation options for attendees, including an agreement with TRAM Barcelona for uninterrupted service during the event, shuttle bus services, and free bicycle parking facilities.

Furthermore, Primavera Sound is committed to aligning with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, prioritizing responsible consumption and production. The festival is constructing its music city using materials with extended lifespans and reusing a significant portion of resources, such as reed fencing, signage tarpaulins, and grass for the main stage area.

In its quest for a plastic-free environment, Primavera Sound is implementing compostable tableware at catering points, offering vegan and locally sourced cuisine, and utilizing reusable glasses. The festival also maintains a rigorous waste management system, endorsed by external auditors like Ecoembes and A Greener Future.

Moreover, efforts to conserve water are evident, with 85% of toilets equipped with water-saving systems and wastewater recirculation saving up to 90% of water usage. Primavera Sound’s dedication to sustainability not only reflects a commitment to ecological awareness but also aims to create a greener and better festival experience for all attendees. With these initiatives, Primavera Sound is setting a new standard for environmentally conscious music events, nurturing a more sustainable future for both the festival and the planet.
