‘Subsea7 Lands .25B Contract for Buzios Field Project’

Offshore services company Subsea 7 has secured a major contract with Petrobras for the development of the Búzios 9 field located offshore Brazil. The scope of the contract includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of 102 kilometers of rigid risers and flowlines for the steel lazy wave production system. While the exact value of the contract has not been disclosed, Subsea7 considers it to be a ‘super major’ contract, indicating it is over .25 million.

Project management and engineering activities will begin immediately at Subsea7’s offices in Rio de Janeiro and Paris. Pipeline fabrication will take place at Subsea7’s spoolbase in Ubu, Espirito Santo, Brazil, with offshore operations scheduled for 2026 and 2027. The development site is situated 180 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro at a water depth of 2,000 meters in the pre-salt Santos basin.

Yann Cottart, Vice-President Brazil at Subsea7, expressed excitement about the new award, stating that it strengthens their project portfolio in Brazil and solidifies their relationship with Petrobras. Subsea 7 is dedicated to collaborating closely with Petrobras to ensure the successful delivery of the Búzios 9 project.
