Student in Dubai develops app for book sharing at no cost
A Dubai student has taken the initiative to create an app for the free exchange of books, catering to the needs of parents and students looking to donate, sell, or buy pre-owned books. Rudraksh Bhandari, the head boy of Delhi Private School Sharjah, saw the opportunity to not only make educational resources more accessible but also reduce the environmental impact of book production through his mobile app.
Named ShareAllBooks, the app is designed to foster a vibrant community of readers who promote sustainability and the joy of reading. Available for download on both Apple and Google Play stores, ShareAllBooks offers users a user-friendly interface for browsing, filtering by genre or location, and posting books for sale or donation. Since its launch last year, the app has facilitated the exchange of over 200 books, with users expressing gratitude for the platform that allows them to declutter their homes and find new reading material.
Bhandari, who was born in Kuwait and relocated to the UAE in 2013, is pleased to see the positive response from book lovers, students, and parents who appreciate the environmentally friendly and community-oriented approach to reading facilitated by ShareAllBooks. Looking ahead, Bhandari plans to expand the app’s reach internationally, aiming to collect books in Dubai for donation to schools and communities in need outside the UAE. Confident in the impact and sustainability of his initiative, Bhandari looks forward to continuing to engage readers and promote a culture of sharing and sustainability in the years to come.
