Start of the Applications Selection for Participation in the “Spirit of Fire” Cinematic Debuts Festival in the Northern Forum’s International Organization Category.

Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra has taken on the chairmanship of the International Organization of Northern Regions “Northern Forum” since July 2023. In light of this new leadership role, a special prize has been established for the International Festival of Cinematic Debuts “Spirit of Fire.”

The special nomination from the Northern Forum will honor filmmakers who preserve the traditions and heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic and the North. The award will include a souvenir as well as a cash prize of 100 thousand rubles. Debut and full-length documentary film projects from regions participating in the Northern Forum are encouraged to vie for this special nomination.

To participate, filmmakers can submit their applications to Ugra-films@yandex.ru by March 20 and must include their personal information, the title of their work, and a link to the film. The XXII International Festival of Cinematic Debuts “Spirit of Fire” will take place from March 23 to 26, 2024, in Khanty-Mansiysk, with the theme of “The special language of national cinematography.”

The festival has been supported by the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra since 2002 and will feature competitive and non-competitive programs, along with a cultural and educational lineup including lectures, presentations, and performances for guests to enjoy.
