Stacey Sher, Producer of ‘Erin Brockovich’, to be Honored at Locarno Festival

American producer Stacey Sher will be honored with the prestigious Raimondo Rezzonico Award at this year’s Locarno Film Festival, taking place from August 7 to 17. The award ceremony will take place on August 8 at the festival’s renowned Piazza Grande, where two films from Sher’s illustrious career, “Erin Brockovich” and “Django Unchained,” will be screened. Additionally, on August 9, Sher will lead a panel discussion at the Forum @ Spazio Cinema.

The Locarno Film Festival describes the award as a recognition of “outstanding personalities who have played a major role in international production.” Sher is a prominent figure in American independent cinema, with credits including iconic films like “Pulp Fiction,” “Get Shorty,” “Matilda,” “Gattaca,” and “Out of Sight.” She has also worked on successful series such as “Reno 911!” and the Emmy award-winning “Mrs. America.” In 2021, Sher produced the 93rd Academy Award ceremony alongside Steven Soderbergh.
