Morgan Library and Museum to Host Spring Centennial Celebration in May

As the spring season brings new life to gardens across New York City, the Morgan Library and Museum’s Garden is also coming alive after its third-year post-restoration. This year holds special significance as the museum celebrates its 100th birthday!

To commemorate this milestone event, the museum is organizing a special Spring Centennial Celebration for all ages. The event will feature live music, exhibition tours, artmaking, scavenger hunts, and more. Families are invited to join in on the festivities on Sunday, May 5, from 11 am to 3 pm, to explore the historic library and garden while participating in crafts, live music, and readings related to current exhibitions.

From exploring Italian architecture to French theater to contemporary drawings, the Morgan offers springtime fun for all ages. Museum admission and all activities are free for the duration of the celebration.

The day will culminate with a family concert from 2 to 3 pm, featuring Michael Hearst and his band. The performance is geared towards curious families, extraordinary children, and their unique friends. Attendees will embark on a musical and visual adventure, discovering bizarre animals, impressive characters, unknown vehicles, fascinating buildings, and unusual instruments like the Theremin, claviola, and stylophone.

In addition to the concert, attendees can participate in a variety of activities, including:

The Morgan Library & Museum, originally the personal library of J.P. Morgan, has been open to the public since 1924. Today, the museum hosts thousands of visitors, including families and children, for exhibitions, performances, lectures, family programs, and tours.
