“Serving Free Iftars Since 1978: Dar Al Ber Society’s Photo Essay”

Dar Al Ber Society, a humanitarian organization founded in 1978, is continuing its tradition of providing free iftar meals to those in need during the holy month of Ramadan. Located in the Ibrahim Khaleel Masjid in Bur Dubai, the society serves 2,500 meals daily to individuals who gather in the courtyard to break their fast.

The organization, which translates to “house of charity” in Arabic, prioritizes portion size, quality, and hygienic packaging of the meals prepared by three different kitchens. Each meal, which includes masala chicken biryani, laban, dates, fruits, and water, is served on communal seating mats as worshippers wait for the maghrib prayer to break their fast.

Yousef Abdullah Al Yateem, the assistant chief executive of Zakat and Community Development at Dar Al Ber Society, notes that this year is operationally significant as the cooler weather eliminates the need for expensive tents. This allows the organization to allocate more resources to purchasing meals and feeding a larger number of people.

With locations across the Emirates, Dar Al Ber Society’s Ramadan project distributes meals at 23 locations daily, supporting individuals in need throughout the holy month. To learn more about the organization and its initiatives, visit www.daralber.ae.
