‘Rogers City plans to host a downtown mural festival in light of recent success’

Rogers City is set to launch its first-ever Murals on Main Festival, inspired by the success of the annual Bright Walls Festival in downtown Jackson. The week-long event will bring together international and local artists to create five new murals in downtown Rogers City.

The Rogers City Main Street program is spearheading the festival, aiming to attract a diverse group of artists to collaborate with local talent. In addition to the mural installations, the festival will feature various activities and events to engage the community and activate unused walls in the downtown area.

Mayor Scott McLennon believes that the Murals on Main Festival will have a significant positive impact on Rogers City, drawing visitors from near and far to admire the artwork. The goal is to enhance vibrancy in the downtown area through art and entertainment.

To support the festival, Rogers City Main Street has launched a ,000 crowdfunding campaign on the Patronicity platform as part of the state’s Public Spaces Community Places initiative. If the campaign reaches its goal by June 15, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation will provide a ,000 matching grant to the project.

Dan Gilmartin, CEO of the Michigan Municipal League, praises the festival as a way to bring the community together and foster shared experiences that promote growth and understanding.

The Murals on Main Festival promises to be a celebration of art, culture, and community spirit in Rogers City. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to witness the transformation of the downtown area with these stunning murals.
