Renowned architecture company chosen to design third middle school
The Maricopa Unified School District’s governing board has selected Orcutt/Winslow, an architectural firm renowned for its work on projects such as the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai and the Sedona Performing Arts Center, to design the district’s third middle school.
With offices in multiple states, including Phoenix, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Indiana, Louisiana, and Kentucky, Orcutt/Winslow will be responsible for developing a master plan and architectural design for the new school. The state has allocated million for the construction of the school, with the exact site to be determined later this year. A site search committee has been tasked to locate suitable land options and make a recommendation.
MUSD spokesperson Mishell Terry stated that the district will collaborate with a real estate broker to identify 25- to 30-acre parcels within district boundaries for the new school. Orcutt/Winslow has a successful track record in Arizona, with projects like Kiva Elementary School, Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center, and the Navajo Nation Administrative Complex to their credit.
Construction for the third middle school is scheduled to commence in the next 12 to 15 months, aiming for an opening in July 2026. This project represents an exciting opportunity for the Maricopa Unified School District to enhance its educational facilities and support the growing student population.
