Reasons for the reinstatement of Lamido Sanusi as Kano Emir

The reinstatement of the deposed Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, has been fulfilled by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, in line with a campaign promise. Governor Yusuf recently signed a bill repealing the State Emirate Council Law 2019, which had established five emirate councils in the state.

This move came after the state House of Assembly passed the bill for the dissolution of the four additional emirates created by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration, as well as the removal of all five emirs. The governor signed the bill on the same day it was passed by the lawmakers.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, Governor Yusuf expressed that the new law allows for the reinstatement of Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano and the removal of all five emirs in the state. This action aligns with the governor’s campaign commitment to the residents of Kano.

The governor emphasized that bringing Lamido Sanusi back as the 14th Emir of Kano will promote peace and prosperity in the state. He also issued a 48-hour deadline for the former emirs to vacate their palaces and hand over all emirate properties to the office of the deputy governor.

Governor Yusuf believes that the new law will unite the people of Kano and drive socio-economic development in the state. He urged the populace to continue supporting his administration in delivering infrastructural advancements that will elevate Kano to greater heights.

The governor reassured the people of Kano that the reinstatement of Lamido Sanusi and the repeal of the council law signify the restoration of the esteemed legacy of the Kano emirate, which dates back over a thousand years. Under the new Kano Emirate Repeal law, the state now operates under one emirate.

In conclusion, Governor Abba Yusuf’s actions aim to preserve the cultural heritage and unity of the people of Kano while propelling the state towards progress and development.
