‘R&D Accelerator Program Applications Now Open’

Mondelēz International has announced the launch of its CoLab Tech program for early-stage companies with innovative technologies in nutrition, ingredients, packaging, and sustainability. Led by Mondelēz’s global R&D team, the accelerator program aims to drive innovation in core categories such as chocolate, biscuits, and baked snacks.

The selected cohort will offer the R&D team access to new capabilities, aiding in the development of breakthrough products and platforms. According to Ian Noble, VP of R&D at Mondelēz, the program aligns with the company’s commitment to providing consumers with better snacking options that prioritize personal well-being, sustainability, and unique eating experiences.

The CoLab Tech program focuses on three key areas: packaging, ingredients, and sustainability. This year’s priorities include recyclable materials, clean ingredients, and solutions to reduce environmental impact. Paula Hemerly, the program manager, highlighted the success of the previous cohort and expressed excitement for the new class’s potential contributions to snack innovation.

The eight-week curriculum includes virtual sessions, mentoring, and opportunities for proof-of-concept testing. Start-ups worldwide with a minimum viable product and at least five employees are encouraged to apply. Diversity and minority representation on the board will also be considered a positive factor during the selection process.
