‘Q1 Passenger Surge Increases by 35.6% in Abu Dhabi Airports’
Abu Dhabi Airports has reported a significant increase in passenger traffic for the first quarter of 2024, with 6.9 million passengers served across its network. This marks a substantial surge of 35.6% compared to the same period in 2023.
Flight movements also saw an increase of 11.4%, totaling 61,737 across the airport operator’s network. The results were attributed to strong global demand for passenger and commercial services.
Zayed International Airport saw over 6.8 million passengers in Q1, a remarkable 36% increase. This growth was supported by the return of Turkmenistan Airlines and the launch of a new Hainan Airlines service to Haikou, China, bringing the total number of scheduled carriers at the airport to 29.
London remained the top destination city, with nearly 290,000 passengers traveling to and from the English capital. The top five destinations also included Mumbai, Kochi, Delhi, and Doha.
Abu Dhabi Airports Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Elena Sorlini, highlighted the success of the airports in attracting a growing number of airlines and passengers worldwide. Sorlini emphasized the commitment to investing in facilities and services to enhance the passenger experience and attract new airline partners.
