‘Progress in Everglades Restoration Showcased in 2024 Environmental Report’

The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) has recently unveiled the 2024 South Florida Environmental Report (SFER), showcasing the ongoing advancements in Everglades restoration and water quality throughout Central and Southern Florida.

This annual report highlights a record increase in hydration levels and improvements in water quality, as well as significant strides in redirecting more water southward. It also celebrates the groundbreaking and completion of major Everglades restoration projects, among other noteworthy achievements that contribute to the resilience of the region’s water resources and ecosystems.

The 2024 SFER outlines the restoration, scientific, and engineering accomplishments made in various areas such as the Kissimmee Basin, Lake Okeechobee, the Everglades, and the coastal regions. It features peer-reviewed scientific data and an extensive online database of projects, detailing the progress during Water Year 2023 (May 1, 2022 – April 30, 2023) and SFWMD Fiscal Year 2023 (Oct. 1, 2022 – Sept. 30, 2023).
