‘Port in Galveston Recognized for Success of Terminal Project’

The Galveston Wharves has been recognized by the Houston Business Journal with a 2024 Landmark Award for their impressive million Cruise Terminal 25 renovation and expansion project. This prestigious award was given in the Special Projects category, highlighting the best real estate projects in the greater Houston region. The award ceremony took place in Houston on April 11, with over 500 individuals in attendance.

The renovation and expansion project at Cruise Terminal 25 included significant improvements such as berth and mooring enhancements, the addition of a second boarding bridge, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility that meets federal standards, and an interior redesign to streamline passenger flow efficiently. The project was successfully completed in December 2023, just in time to welcome Carnival Cruise Line’s new Carnival Jubilee.

Key partners in this terminal project included tenant Carnival Cruise Line, general contractor Hensel Phelps, architect Bermello Ajamil & Partners, and Texas Gulf Construction Co. This achievement follows the port’s previous win of the same award in 2023 for their Cruise Terminal 10 construction project in collaboration with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.

The recognition from the Houston Business Journal underscores the Galveston Wharves’ commitment to excellence in enhancing their facilities to provide top-notch services for cruise line partners and passengers.
