‘Over 220,000 individuals are traveling from Birmingham Airport during this half term’

As the bank holiday and school getaway approaches, Birmingham Airport is gearing up for a busy period with an estimated 221,500 travelers expected to pass through from Friday 24th May to Sunday 2nd June. This marks a 15% increase compared to the same time last year.

Al Titterington, the Terminal Operations Director of Birmingham Airport, advises customers to arrive in line with their check-in opening time as stated on their airline booking details. He also reminds travelers that liquids in hand luggage must not exceed 100ml. With the introduction of new scanners, liquids, pastes, and gels no longer need to be in plastic bags, making the process more convenient for passengers.

The security queuing area may change, so customers are urged to follow the directions of the airport’s customer teams who are available to provide assistance. For those flying with Jet2 or TUI, there is an option to drop off bags the day before departure and head straight to security on the day of travel.

In terms of check-in zones in the terminal, Jet2 customers should head to Zone A, Emirates passengers to Zone D, and all other airline travelers to Zones B & C. Passengers are reminded to keep liquids, pastes, and gels under 100ml in their hand luggage during the security search and to keep all electronics in their carry-on as well.

During the security screening process, it is important to empty all pockets of items such as phones, keys, coins, and belts. Watches can be left on during the security check.
