‘Orchestral Performance by Public Service Broadcasting at Durham Brass Festival’

Public Service Broadcasting is set to headline the Durham Brass Festival 2024, taking place from July 5 to July 13. The alternative rock group will be performing their acclaimed 2017 album ‘Every Valley’ alongside The NASUWT Riverside Band at the iconic Durham Cathedral in North East England.

Founding member J Willgoose Esq expressed his personal connection to the North-East, citing his father’s roots in Sunderland as an influence for the album’s focus on coal mining. The album features collaborations with musicians like James Dean Bradfield of Manic Street Preachers and Tracyanne Campbell of Camera Obscura, in addition to the 12-piece brass band.

The NASUWT Riverside Band, known for their previous performances with artists like Richard Hawley and Field Music, will bring a unique touch to the event. Band leader Tony Thompson highlighted the significance of the performance marking the 40th anniversary of the miners’ strike, making it a poignant tribute to Durham’s history.
