Ohio Turnpike Commission Approves 4M Budget for 2024 Projects

The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission has allocated a budget of 4 million for capital improvement projects along the 241-mile toll road in 2024. This budget includes 8 million for projects starting in 2024 and completing previous year projects, leaving .4 million for any unforeseen expenditures that may arise.

A significant portion of the 2024 capital plan, over 2 million, is designated for roadway and bridge projects. These projects involve resurfacing nearly 142 lane miles of pavement, reconstructing the pavement at a toll plaza interchange, and conducting extensive work on 26 bridges.

Specific projects planned for 2024 include the completion of pavement replacement and removal of the old Westgate Toll Plaza in Williams County, interchange pavement reconstruction at Toll Plaza 34 in Fulton County, mainline resurfacing and bridge deck overlay in Wood County, as well as bridge deck replacements in Sandusky, Erie, and Lorain Counties. Additionally, there will be bridge replacements and work on Tinker’s Creek in Summit, Portage, and Mahoning Counties.

Moreover, the 2024 capital expenditures will include the finalization of the toll collection system modernization program and the installation of Intelligent Transportation System cameras and sign boards along the Ohio Turnpike’s mainline.

Overall, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission is prioritizing infrastructure improvements to ensure the safety and efficiency of travel along the toll road in 2024.
