‘Nurai Island Resort in Abu Dhabi Temporarily Closes’

Nurai Island, a popular luxury destination in Abu Dhabi, is temporarily closing for refurbishment. The exact reopening date is unknown, but the company assures a grand transformation project is in the works to enhance the guest experience. The website currently states that all villas are “sold out” indefinitely, with no mention of the closure. Attempts to reach the reservations line have been unsuccessful.

Owned by Aldar, a prominent UAE investment and real estate corporation, Nurai Island offers a unique experience with beachfront estates, water villas, and a boutique hotel. Aldar also acquired two neighboring islands for future development. In a recent earnings call, Aldar’s CFO mentioned plans for major transformations in their hotel portfolio, causing potential disruptions to income. Despite this, the hospitality sector remains a profitable part of Aldar’s portfolio.

Among Aldar’s hotel properties are well-known names like W Yas Island, Anantara Eastern Mangroves, and Nurai Island Resort in Abu Dhabi, as well as Rixos Bab Al Bahr Resort and DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah. Additionally, recent acquisitions include the Rixos and DoubleTree by Hilton in Ras Al Khaimah, signaling continued growth and investment in the hospitality sector.
