Nominations Open for Awards Celebrating Women in Sports

The Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council have collaborated to kick off the nomination period for the eighth edition of the Fatima bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Awards. These awards, named after Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the “Mother of the Nation,” aim to honor the outstanding accomplishments of female athletes and sports personalities throughout the Arab world.

The nomination process commenced on June 5th, 2024, and will run until September 10th, 2024. This year’s awards will recognize female athletes whose remarkable achievements occurred between September 2023 and September 2024. Winners will be acknowledged in eight categories, with a total prize fund of AED 1.8 million (approximately USD 490,000) to be divided among the recipients.

The Arab Women Athlete category, considered the most prestigious award, offers a grand prize of AED 500,000 (approximately USD 136,000). Other categories include Best Emirati Women Athlete, Best Youth Athlete, Best Paralympic Athlete, Best Female/Male Coach, Best Sports Media, and Best Team. Additionally, the introduction of the Best Sports Mother category in the seventh edition aims to recognize a mother’s significant role in her daughter’s sporting achievements, with a prize of AED 150,000 (approximately USD 41,000).

The Fatima bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Awards spotlight the achievements of women in sports across the Arab world, serving as a source of motivation for female athletes and inspiring future generations to pursue their athletic dreams. An esteemed panel of judges will carefully evaluate each nomination to identify the most deserving individuals and teams that have left a lasting impact on the sports community.

The prestigious awards ceremony is scheduled for November 13th, 2024, bringing together key figures from the sports and women’s empowerment sectors. The event will not only honor the winners but also emphasize the increasing role of women in athletics within the Arab region.

As nominations are now open, the Fatima bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Awards are set to once again recognize the remarkable achievements of Arab women in sports, encouraging them to strive for even greater success in the future.
