NIKE Sets Ambitious Goals for Carbon Reduction

Nike is taking significant steps to reduce its carbon footprint according to a recent report. The company stated that they are constantly monitoring their carbon footprint and adjusting their business practices based on the latest scientific data. In FY19, Nike set ambitious Science-Based Targets to reduce their carbon footprint by 2030. This includes a 65% absolute reduction across Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 30% reduction across Scope 3 emissions from a 2015 baseline.

Moreover, Nike has not only aligned these 2030 targets with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), but they have also set additional carbon targets to be achieved by 2025. These targets are designed to further accelerate their efforts and are based on an FY20 baseline, in line with the timeframe of their other corporate goals.

By setting these targets and actively working towards reducing their carbon footprint, Nike is demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. The company’s proactive approach to addressing climate change is commendable and sets a positive example for the broader business community.
