‘New update brings February 2024 security patch to Galaxy A71 5G’
Samsung has rolled out the latest security update for the Galaxy A71 5G smartphone. This higher mid-range device, released in 2021, is now receiving the February 2024 security update. Several other mid-range and high-end smartphones have already received this update earlier this month.
The new update for the Galaxy A71 5G comes with firmware version A716BXXS9FXA1 and is currently available in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. It is expected to become available in other countries and markets in the coming days. The update is relatively small in size as it primarily contains security patches, so users should not expect any new features or performance improvements. The security bulletin from Samsung states that the February 2024 security update addresses 72 security vulnerabilities present in the previous software version.
If you own a Galaxy A71 5G and reside in Saudi Arabia or the UAE, you can now check for the update on your device. Simply go to Settings » Software update » Download and install on your phone to see if the update is available. Alternatively, users can choose the manual firmware flashing method, which involves downloading the appropriate firmware file from their database and flashing it manually using a computer running Windows OS with the Odin tool installed.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A71 5G in early 2021 with Android 11, followed by updates to Android 12 in late 2021 and Android 13 in late 2022. However, the device will not receive the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update.
For users looking to upgrade from the Galaxy A71 5G, the Galaxy S23 FE is a recommended option. The Galaxy S23 FE offers a better screen, a faster processor, improved cameras, Android 14 (with updates up to Android 17), and longer battery life.
