New shows announced for Edinburgh Festival Fringe before program release

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe has unveiled a fresh lineup of nearly 1,600 shows for this year’s event, covering a wide range of genres including cabaret, comedy, dance, music, and more. These new additions join the 1,674 previously announced shows, bringing the total number of performances to 3,237 so far. The full official Fringe programme is scheduled to be released on June 12.

Shona McCarthy, the chief executive of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, expressed excitement about the diversity and excellence of the shows being brought to the festival this year. Artists are increasingly urging audiences to book early, with the latest announcement marking one of the festival’s most comprehensive show releases to date. The anticipation is building for the festival, set to take place from August 2-26 in the vibrant city of Edinburgh.

Earlier this year, organizers revealed plans to provide accommodation for hundreds of participants during the upcoming 2024 edition of the Fringe. In 2023, over 2.5 million tickets were issued for the event, reflecting an 11% increase from the previous year. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe continues to be a highlight on the cultural calendar, drawing in performers and audiences from around the world.
