‘New Shipbuilding Joint Venture formed by EDGE Group and Fincantieri to Build 10 Naval Vessels with a 400 Million Euro Order’

EDGE Group and Fincantieri have officially announced the establishment of MAESTRAL, a shipbuilding Joint Venture (JV) based in Abu Dhabi. The agreement, signed today, aims to capitalize on global opportunities for advanced naval vessel design and manufacturing. With EDGE holding a 51% stake in the venture, MAESTRAL is set to secure prime rights to non-NATO orders and strategic orders from selected NATO member countries, with a substantial commercial pipeline valued at around 30 billion euro.

Following the signing of the agreement, the UAE Coast Guard Forces wasted no time in placing a significant order for 10 advanced 51m Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) from MAESTRAL, worth 400 million euro. These P51MR Class OPVs, built on the proven Saettia Class platform, boast high modularity, stability in rough sea conditions, low radar signal signature, and exceptional operational flexibility.

MAESTRAL is positioned to focus on sales, commercial operations, and engineering services for design and service, offering employment opportunities for skilled local and international professionals. The collaboration between EDGE and Fincantieri marks a milestone in the maritime industry, bringing cutting-edge technology and defense capabilities to the forefront of naval vessel production.
