New Dubai Harbour Access Bridge to be Constructed over 1.5 km

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently made headlines with the announcement of a groundbreaking project aimed at enhancing the entry and exit points for Dubai Harbour. Partnering with Shamal Holding, the RTA awarded a lucrative AED 431 million contract to develop a two-lane bridge in each direction, spanning an impressive 1,500 meters.

The significance of this project cannot be overstated, as the bridge will serve as a crucial link connecting Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour, which boasts the largest marina in the region. With the capacity to accommodate up to 6,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, this infrastructure development is set to revolutionize transportation in the area. Not only will it drastically reduce travel time to Dubai Harbour from 12 minutes to a mere three minutes, but it will also alleviate traffic congestion and enhance accessibility for residents and tourists alike.

Mattar Al Tayer, the esteemed Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing its strategic importance. According to Al Tayer, the bridge will span from the 5th intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road, near the American University in Dubai, all the way to Dubai Harbour Street. Along the way, it will intersect with key streets such as Al Naseem Street, Al Falak Street, and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, further enhancing connectivity in the area.

One of the main attractions in Dubai Harbour is its prime location between Bluewaters Island and Palm Jumeirah, two iconic landmarks synonymous with luxury and sophistication. Offering breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf and close proximity to renowned landmarks like the Burj Al Arab, Dubai Harbour is poised to become a premier destination for residents and visitors seeking a high-end lifestyle experience.

Moreover, Dubai Harbour is home to Skydive Dubai, a popular attraction featuring a 770-meter-long runway that extends 550 meters into the Arabian Gulf. As part of a larger 1.5-kilometer-long development project, Dubai Harbour is also set to undergo significant expansion, with plans for a residential complex comprising 24 towers and approximately 7,500 apartments. This ambitious undertaking underscores Dubai’s commitment to sustainable urban development and creating world-class infrastructure that meets the needs of its growing population.

In conclusion, the RTA’s initiative to enhance the entry and exit points for Dubai Harbour signifies a major milestone in Dubai’s ongoing development as a global city. By investing in cutting-edge infrastructure projects like the bridge connecting Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour, Dubai is not only improving its transportation network but also solidifying its reputation as a leading destination for business, tourism, and luxury living. As Dubai continues to evolve and grow, projects like these will play a crucial role in shaping the city’s future and ensuring its status as a global hub of innovation and progress.
