‘New codeshare partnership launched by Emirates and Avianca through European hubs’

Emirates and Avianca Launch Codeshare Partnership

Dubai, UAE – 22 May 2024: Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, and Avianca, one of the largest Latin-American carriers, have announced a new codeshare partnership. This partnership will allow customers of both airlines to enjoy seamless connectivity on select routes.

Emirates customers flying from European gateways such as Madrid, Barcelona, or London Heathrow can now travel directly to three destinations in Colombia – Bogotá, Medellin, and Cali. This partnership will provide travelers with more convenience and travel benefits. Tickets for codeshare flights can be booked immediately through multiple channels including the Emirates and Avianca websites, apps, contact centers, or through travel agents. Codeshare flights are set to commence from 4 June.

On the other hand, Avianca customers flying through select European points will have access to Dubai utilizing Emirates services. Avianca will place its code on routes operated by Emirates between Barcelona, Madrid, or London Heathrow and Dubai. This will allow Avianca customers to enjoy premium amenities on Emirates-operated flights such as lie-flat seats, premium dining, and a vast selection of entertainment options in Spanish.

Both airlines’ customers will benefit from seamless connectivity, hassle-free booking, competitive fares, and a single baggage policy checked through to the final destination. Adnan Kazim, Deputy President, and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates expressed his excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the expansion of reach and access to popular destinations in Colombia.

Claudio Vélez, Chief Revenue Officer of Avianca, also shared his enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the connectivity and access to new destinations that this partnership will bring. The codeshare agreement with Emirates will not only strengthen Avianca’s operation in European points but also enhance connectivity between Latin America and Dubai.

Emirates currently has commercial cooperation agreements with 161 partners, showing their commitment to expanding their network and providing more options for travelers.
