‘New Codeshare Agreement Between airBaltic and Bulgaria Air’

airBaltic and Bulgaria Air have officially launched a new codeshare partnership, enhancing connectivity for passengers traveling between Latvia and Bulgaria. The agreement, signed on May 8, 2024, allows both airlines to offer improved flexibility and seamless connections to various destinations on their respective route networks. The first codeshare flight under this partnership took place on May 14, 2024.

As part of this collaboration, airBaltic will add its BT flight prefix code to Bulgaria Air’s Sofia to Varna route. In return, Bulgaria Air will place its FB code on airBaltic’s Sofia to Riga route, as well as on onward flights operated by airBaltic to key Scandinavian cities like Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, and Helsinki.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This collaboration benefits both Baltic and Bulgarian travelers, providing them with enhanced access to a wider network of destinations. We look forward to a successful and long-lasting partnership with Bulgaria Air.”

Hristo Todorov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bulgaria Air, also shared his delight about the codeshare agreement, highlighting the seamless connections it offers between the two airlines’ networks and the enhanced travel options for passengers across Europe.

With this new partnership, Bulgaria Air joins the list of airlines that have established codeshares with airBaltic. Currently, airBaltic operates over 130 routes from multiple bases, connecting passengers to destinations in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region. The airline’s fleet comprises 47 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with more deliveries scheduled for 2024.

Established in 2002, Bulgaria Air operates domestic and international flights, linking Bulgaria to various cities in Europe and the Middle East. The airline’s fleet includes four Airbus A220-300s, one A319, five A320s, and five Embraer ERJ-190s.

This partnership signifies a step towards enhanced connectivity and convenience for travelers flying between Latvia and Bulgaria, opening up a world of new travel opportunities across Europe.
