New CEO Named for Music Education Organization Britten Pears Arts

Britten Pears Arts, a charitable organization based in Suffolk, England, is proud to announce the appointment of Andrew Comben as its new CEO. Comben will be taking over from Roger Wright, who led the organization for ten years.

Originally from Australia, Comben has an extensive background in the arts. He started his career in London at the Wigmore Hall and went on to work for the Young Concert Artists Trust. Comben also served as the Director of the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme before returning to Wigmore Hall as Head of Artistic Planning.

For the past decade, Comben has been the CEO of Brighton Dome & Festival, where he established a Guest Director model and brought in renowned figures like Anish Kapoor and Laurie Anderson. During his tenure, the festival took over the management of music programs in schools, engaging thousands of children in music-making every week.

In his new role at Britten Pears Arts, Comben expressed his excitement for continuing the legacy of Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears. He plans to work closely with the organization’s staff and Board to shape its future direction.

Chair of the Board, Sir Simon Robey, praised Comben’s appointment, highlighting his dedication to the arts and community engagement. He also acknowledged the contributions of Roger Wright and expressed gratitude for his exceptional leadership.

The entire board welcomes Andrew Comben to Britten Pears Arts and looks forward to the organization’s continued growth under his leadership.
