‘New additions to the ‘WCLK AT 50′ lineup: DJ Kemit, Mace Hibbard, IAmKhemestry, and Joel Powell’

The Atlanta Jazz Festival has announced another star-studded addition to their “WCLK AT 50” event, set to kick off the festivities on May 24 at Atlanta Symphony Hall. Joining the lineup are Atlanta music icons DJ Kemit, Mace Hibbbard, IAMKHEMESTRY, and Joel Powell, who will be part of the All-Star Band led by musical director Lil John Roberts.

The All-Star Band already includes talented members such as The Senators, Phil Davis, Tres Gilbert, Derek Scott, Rodney Edge, Miguel Gaetán, Joe Gransden, Jamel Mitchell, Mike Burton, Saunders Sermons, and Daniel Wytanis. Special guest performances will also be given by Kathleen Bertrand, Cleveland P. Jones, Rhonda Thomas, Imani-Grace Cooper, Julie Dexter, Tony Hightower, Dashill Smith, and Alexandra Jackson. Narrator Jon Goode will share stories about the history and legacy of WCLK, while Melvin Jones will serve as the event’s Big Band Music Arranger.

The 90-minute musical journey will feature jazz music from the 1930s to the present day, including classics like “Maiden Voyage,” “I Got Rhythm,” “So What,” and “Take 5,” as well as modern compositions like “Watermelon Man,” “Everybody Loves The Sunshine,” “Dominoes,” and “Rise.”

This event is Co-Produced by Jamal Ahmad, Lil John Roberts, and Ray Cornelius. WCLK Jazz 91.9 FM, which first aired on April 10, 1974, will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year.
