This spring, millennials in Greece are leading the way in travel demand, with a particular interest in lesser-known destinations and adventure escapes, as indicated by data from the popular short-term rental platform Airbnb.
According to the report, the number of overnight stays booked by millennials in Greece has seen a 28 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The majority of these travelers are opting for rooms, while family travel has also seen a rise of 12 percent over the previous year.
When it comes to favorite international destinations for Greek travelers this spring, cities like Istanbul, Dubai, Frankfurt, Rome, Berlin, Warsaw, Madrid, Sofia, Milan, and Venice have topped the list.
Airbnb data also reveals a significant 33 percent surge in searches for spring holidays in Greece and a notable 41 percent increase in couples traveling. Among the top destinations within Greece for Greek travelers this spring are Rethymno (Crete), Karpenisi, Ioannina, Kastoria, Kalavryta, Trikala, Karditsa, Arachova, and Volos.
The report emphasizes that domestic destinations continue to be among the favorites for Greek travelers, reflecting a growing trend of exploring hidden gems within their own country.
